Later! U.S. pulls out of UNESCO

The State Department announced Thursday afternoon that the U.S. is pulling out of UNESCO – a Paris-based agency of the United Nations focused on culture, education and scientific agency – citing anti-Israel bias from the organizationand the need for fundamental reform as the reasoning behind the decision.

According to the State Department, the withdrawal will take effect Dec. 31, 2018. The U.S. previously ended funding to UNESCO in 2011 after it voted to add Palestine as a member.
The U.S. will now assume the role of a “non-member observer” within the organization in order to continue contributing U.S. perspectives and expertise.
Representatives from France and Russia have expressed concern about the U.S.’s departure while others, such as Israel’s U.N. ambassador, called the exit a “turning point” and the U.S. “a true leader for change at the U.N.” Following the U.S.’s decision, Israel announced they would also be leaving the agency.

Trump has started to dismantle Obamacare by signing an executive order that he says will help bring affordable health care to millions of people.

CNN reports, “The order broadly tasks the administration with developing policies to increase health care competition and choice in order to improve the quality of health care and lower prices.”

CNN adds however that this order could siphon out younger and healthier individuals.

Matthew Naquin, 19, is among 10 people in at an LSU fraternity who have been arrested in connection with the Sept. 14 death of Maxwell Gruver, whose blood-alcohol content was more than six times the legal limit.

The Associated Press reports that Naquin “faces a felony negligent homicide charge in the death of 18-year-old Maxwell Gruver, a freshman from Roswell, Georgia, who was trying to join Phi Delta Theta.”

The report also claims that “witnesses told police that other pledges were made to drink that night, but Naquin “targeted” Gruver because he was frequently late for events. Naquin apparently didn’t like Gruver, and “forced” him to drink because he was having trouble reciting the Greek alphabet during “Bible Study,” a ritual testing their fraternity knowledge, they said.”

Egg Freezing Is the Millennial Woman’s Backup Plan

Career before family? (Image: PIxabay/Uloop News file photo)

Andrea Colombel writes in a provocative piece that “many women are putting their careers ahead of their personal lives, something men have done for centuries. But even biology has not caught up with society. Women still don’t have the ability to produce offspring as long as men do and therefore have a shorter window to start a family.Egg freezing is the solution to this contemporary dilemma.”
